The Challenge: How do we produce a mobile concert pop-up throughout Maricopa County, Arizona to entertain voters in line for the 2022 Midterms in less than eight days?
The Solution: With barely one week of notice to produce this event from start to finish, the Joy to the Polls team reached out to AdHoc to produce a roving musical activation in Arizona during the Midterm election that would bring joy to voters in long lines at the polls and connect to a national Joy to the Polls effort popping up in Atlanta and Philadelphia on the same day.
Although we had never produced an event in Arizona before, we quickly problem solved, drew from our networks, and got straight to work.
We were able to concept and fabricate a 24ft flatbed trailer, outfitted with a custom 10 ft high neon “VOTE” sign and full DJ rig. We booked a diverse roster of DJ talent plus an influencer host from the Phoenix area who performed on the truck for more than 12 hours, popping up at over 10 polling locations throughout Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, Arizona.
We assembled a robust team of producers, drivers, videographers, photographers, tech staff, and production assistants, who ensured the day ran smoothly and was well captured for content creation following the event.
In less than a week, we developed and executed our marketing strategy, hiring local social media influencers to help spread the word on their social channels, as well as rolling out a city-wide wheatpasting campaign to promote the pop-ups.
Not only was this production challenge met, it exceeded our clients expectations and made a lasting impact on the communities in Maricopa County that we touched, bringing joy to their days and to the voting process.
