Your favorite critical music publication and ours, Pitchfork, wanted to end the year by throwing a party and displaying what it does best, in a live setting. To say that AdHoc was motivated to turn this opportunity into a magical moment would be an understatement. Pitchfork is in our DNA and we love nothing more than coming together around the razor sharp passion that defines Pitchfork and its community.
Pitchfork’s biggest traffic of the year rolls in with the posting of their Year In Music best-of lists, making December a natural time to rally ‘round the ‘fork.
Followers of AdHoc will tell you that 2024 marked the year that our popular Substack, Thought Enthusiast, made its experiential debut during SxSW. Since then, we’ve been evolving the newsletter into a live experience that blends our favorite creative’s inspirational recommendations with a party that feels like an elevated salon-style scene meeting a late night talk show.
From the jump, all parties agreed that this collaborative event had to be driven by an upbeat engaging run-of-show, fueled by audience participation. We wanted the crowd to feel the Year In Music, not just observe it. Another goal was to give Pitchfork’s editors a platform for their fans to connect with them memorably.
Once the final joke was made, points tallied, and topics exhausted, guests and hosts were delighted with surprise dumplings paired with a well stocked bar from partners Cerveza Monopolio, Visitor, Goods Spirits, and Topo Chico.
